Build a Windmill, Change the World
I love the green architecture blog Inhabitat; in fact, reading that thing every day helped me choose my major in college. A few days ago, they wrote about one of the most ambitious, strong-willed, kind-hearted people I've ever come across: William Kamkwamba. Inhabitat's summed it up pretty well, as have a bunch of other people, so I won't bore you all by rehashing. Long story short, this guy taught himself mechanical engineering out of books in his school's library in Malawi, then built a windmill to power his family home and village. I normally hate "feel-good" news, but dear god, this is inspiring!
